Life has been quite a ride since my divorce three years ago. As a microbiologist based in Perth, balancing the demands of my job with a healthy lifestyle has been a real challenge. The long hours in the lab often leave me feeling like there’s no time left for myself.

The divorce took a toll on me—not just physically, but mentally as well. I knew something had to change, but finding the energy and time to make those changes felt nearly impossible. I needed something that could seamlessly fit into my busy life—something simple yet effective that wouldn’t add more stress.

I decided to start with small, manageable steps. Instead of trying to revamp my entire routine, I began incorporating a few healthy habits into my day. I found some quick morning exercises that don’t take up much time but still boost my energy levels. I also started preparing easy, nutritious meals that keep me fueled without spending hours in the kitchen.

Another major shift was adding mindfulness practices to my daily routine. I began meditating for just a few minutes each day, which has helped me stay centered and calm, even during the busiest times.

These small changes have made a significant difference. I’m gradually starting to feel more like myself—both physically and mentally. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m realizing that it’s possible to regain control of my life, even with a demanding schedule. If you’re in a similar place, remember that you don’t need to make drastic changes to see positive results. Sometimes, the smallest adjustments can have the most significant impact.
